New Democracy Ad: If Republicans Stand with Trump, They Stand with Russia

Today, New Democracy released a new digital ad aimed at seven House Republicans who are standing with Trump and Putin instead of standing up for Americans.

“As the people of Ukraine fight valiantly to defend themselves against Vladimir Putin’s unprovoked and brutal aggression, ex-president Donald Trump disgraces himself and his country by praising the Russian dictator,” said Will Marshall, Co-Director of New Democracy.

“Let’s not forget that Trump not only is Putin’s most fawning American admirer, but that he got himself impeached for withholding U.S. military aid from Ukraine for refusing to help him smear a political opponent,” continued Marshall.

“Washington Republicans are choosing to stand with Putin and Trump – the latter who called America’s greatest adversary a ‘genius’ – over America and our unwavering democratic ideals. These Republicans need to tell their voters who they’re representing: America or the Kremlin - it can’t be both,” said Lindsay Mark Lewis, Co-Director of New Democracy.

The ads target seven House Republicans who voted against the certification of the 2020 election, and have put Trump and Trumpian policies before their constituents. The ads will run in congressional districts currently represented byJeff Van Drew (NJ-02), Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), David Schweikert (AZ-01), Virginia Foxx (NC-05), Carlos Giménez (FL-26), Mike Garcia (CA-25), Yvette Herrell (NM-02).
