Fox News Refuses to Air New Democracy Ad Calling for Republicans to Stand Up to Putin

Today, News Corp and Fox News Channel refused to air a New Democracy ad during their upcoming broadcast of Fox News Sunday, citing ‘misinformation’. The ad, which was released last week, calls for Republicans to stand up to Vladimir Putin and put America first. Following the former president’s remarks calling Putin a ‘genius,’ every Republican elected official should be asked on the record whether or not they agree with Donald Trump in his praise of this dangerous dictator.

“Fox News is complicit in Donald Trump’s games with Putin, and this latest move is just another sign they are pushing the former disgraced president’s anti-democracy agenda,” said Lindsay Mark Lewis, Co-Director of New Democracy.

“New Democracy made it clear: if you stand with Trump, you stand with Putin. Fox News’ latest hostility toward the truth is a shameful representation of how the far-right is catering to a man who called America’s worst adversary a ‘genius’,” said Aaron White, Deputy Director of New Democracy.

New Democracy also ran this ad in seven House seats currently occupied by Republicans who voted against the certification of the 2020 election and have put Trump and Trumpian policies before their constituents. The ads are running in congressional districts represented by Jeff Van Drew (NJ-02), Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), David Schweikert (AZ-01), Virginia Foxx (NC-05), Carlos Giménez (FL-26), Mike Garcia (CA-25), Yvette Herrell (NM-02).

New Democracy is a ‘home base’ and support network for pragmatic Democratic leaders. Its mission is to expand the party’s appeal across Middle America and make Democrats competitive everywhere. Follow New Democracy: @newdemocracy
