New Democracy Announces First Round of Endorsements in Statewide Races

WASHINGTON New Democracy is proud to announce its first round of endorsements for statewide candidates in the 2024 general election. These endorsements reflect New Democracy’s commitment to supporting center-left leaders who are dedicated to pragmatic, bold policy solutions. The endorsed candidates are:

  • Josh Stein (D-N.C.) for Governor of North Carolina

  • Rachel Hunt (D-N.C.) for Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina

  • Tobias Read (D-Oreg.) for Secretary of State of Oregon

“These candidates represent the future of Democratic leadership. They are committed to delivering practical, effective solutions that meet the needs of their states while standing firm against the divisive and dangerous policies pushed by the extreme right,” said Lindsay Lewis, Co-Founder of New Democracy. “We are excited to support Josh, Rachel, and Tobias, as they work to improve the lives of everyday Americans with center-left solutions rooted in real-world challenges.”

New Democracy is a support network and home-base for pragmatic Democratic leaders – governors, mayors, state officials and Members of Congress – with the mission of expanding the party’s appeal across Middle America and making Democrats competitive everywhere. Since 2022 New Democracy has invested more than $10 million in digital and television ads supporting Democrats in key races across the country

Its endorsement goes to incumbents who have stood up for pragmatic Democratic values while in office, and to challengers upholding these values, particularly in competitive races. New Democracy supports its candidates through direct support, independent advertising expenditures and grassroots support from the Center for New Liberalism’s network of chapters across the U.S.
