Janelle Stelson

Candidate for PA-10

As an Emmy Award–winning broadcast journalist, Janelle Stelson has spent her life listening and talking directly to the people of Central Pennsylvania.

Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, Janelle grew up in the Seattle area, the oldest of 4 sisters. Her mom was a receptionist at the Naval shipyard in Bremerton and her father was a state trooper and teacher. She graduated from the University of Puget Sound and later moved to Harrisburg to join WHTM-TV as a Reporter and Weather Anchor.

In 1997, Janelle joined Central Pennsylvania’s biggest station, WGAL-TV 8, as News Anchor. Her 11 PM show has consistently boasted the highest ratings in the region. In its annual poll, Senior News has repeatedly named her “Best News Anchor.”

Janelle’s reporting has taken her from Jubilee Day in Mechanicsburg to the monster truck races at the Gratz Fair, from the frontlines in Kosovo to the still-smoldering Twin Towers following 9/11. She’s tirelessly shined a light on our issues, big and small—from saving factory jobs to solving elderly homeowners’ rat problems.
